17th-18th C. Japanese Twelve-Panel Byobu

Sorry, this product is no longer available on Dering Hall.

Extremely rare and exquisite 17th c. or 18th c. Japanese 12-Panel Byobu. The piece depicts a lovely and peaceful scene of little birds and blossoming sakura. Watercolor and gouache on paper, silk matting, layers of washi paper on back, lacquered black wood frame with metal hardware. Good condition overall, a lot of age wear, strong hinges. Comes from old collection of Asian Art. Japan, 17-18th century. One might like to do some restoration on this piece, but as an antiques and art dealer and collector, I think that this piece doesn’t need any restoration, and age wear only adds charm to its beauty.
