17th Century a “Representation Of Winter” or “Hercules” by Matthieu van Beveran (Antwerp 1630 – Brussels 1690) Circa 1670-1680

A Representation of Winter by 17th c. sculptor Mathiu van Beveren (Antwerp 1630-Brussels 1690) depicting a putti in a fur throw with ice skates and a fire. A remanent of the carved signature of van Beveren can be found on the base of the carved stone statue. It is believed that this was one of a group of Four Seasons garden statues. Restoration has been done to the statue’s nose, arm and foot.
