Fantastic 18th century Japanese four panel depicting a peacock landscape. Edo period screen made in the Kano school style of painting. Sumi Gofun and color on gold paper with beautiful gold leaf accents around the borders. The naturalistic painting features an idyllic landscape with pine trees, flowers, and a flowing river. Provenance: Sold at Plaza Fine Art New York in 1980 with the original sales receipt and catalog page with photo. Dimensions: 88.5"w x .75"d x 59"h Circa: 18th Century, Japan Materials: Paper, Wood, Silk, Brass, Gold leaf Condition: Distressed, minor wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully distressed and faded finish with losses and old repairs. Front shows well with age appropriate wear.
