1970s Duayne Hatchett Geometric Aluminum Table Sculpture
Duayne Hatchett aluminum table sculpture with a geometric, architectural design. Hatchett’s artwork, including sculpture, trowel geometric paintings, and prints are in several museums including the Whitney Museum of Art. Acquired from a private collection which included several other sculptures. Not signed or dated. Circa mid 1970s. Wonderful composition of curved solid form intersecting with perpendicular planes. Curved form has a slightly more polished finish. Duayne Hatchett (1925-2015) transitioned from art composed of junk metal & found objects to geometric abstract, minimal forms. His work from the period of this sculpture is constructed of industrial materials and has an architectural accuracy. Sculpture could be positioned several possible ways.
