1990s Lorraine Bonanni Expressive Male Nude Figure Terra Cotta Sculpture
Lorraine Bonanni (American, 20th/21st C.) Terra cotta sculpture, male nude sitting on terra cotta plinth. Circa 1990. Unsigned but purchased by the former owner from the artist. Measures 28in width x 17in height x 11in depth. Plinth measures 29in x 11in x 1in. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Bio: Inspired by the work of Egon Schiele, Bonanni developed her own curriculum, skipping formal education in lieu of a hands on apprenticeship with Hungarian sculptor K. Michel based in Brussels, Belgium. She learned the craft on the job, sculpting, molding, and casting over several years. She moved to Chicago and began working in a studio in Evanston, Illinois under S. Oettinger. Sixteen years ago, she moved to Los Angeles and began working at the Brentwood Art Center under J. Bickart, and more recently at the Teale Sculpture Studio under G. Lafayette and A. Matano.
