19th C. French Hand-Carved Oak Prayer Chair

Sorry, this product is no longer available on Dering Hall.

This late 19th century French Neogothic hand-carved oak prayer chair, or prie-dieu in French, radiates elegance and fine craftsmanship. This piece features an ornate backrest comprised of turned columns, which support the upholstered armrest. There is a hand-carved cross motif at the center of the backrest with a metal plaque that reads “J. Foubert”, presumably the name of the previous owner. In addition, this piece showcases ruby red mohair upholstery fastened to the frame with a brass nailhead trim. It rests turned front legs and slightly curved back legs. It is unmarked.
