A medium sized 19th century Japanese bronze elephant that could possibly be from a temple in Kyoto, Japan. The piece features an elephant with a howdah, or a decorative cloth over the elephants body. The howdah has design elements such as a dragon, foliage motifs, and garlands on either side.
