A pine Chippendale period display cabinet with pitched pediment, carved egg and dart moldings and carved floral applique lower cabinet doors. The upper case is glazed with egg and dart molded mullions. Originally painted, now stripped and waxed to a pleasing polished pine surface. English, circa 1755.
Designed after James paine circa 1755, furniture and architectural details by this maker are at Bedford Hall, Northumberland, England. Paine was first commisioned by Nostell Priory for sir Rowland Winn as well as other commissions at Alnwick, Chatsworth, Brocket Hall, etc. Offered by G. Sergeant Antiques
