A Pair of Rare Barchetta Murano Glass Chandeliers
Paolo Venini and Venini for Enrico Capuzzo
Two extraordinary pieces from special commission of 4 unique works created by the master glass blowers of Venini for Professor Rodolfo Pallucchini. A compelling and innovative example of art glass transformed into lighting. Each deep violet glass center suspended in a red or blue glass pool, the form hand-blown and carved to create a fluid ellipse. Trapped air bubbles and etching throughout. Suspended by the original iron mounts. Slight size variations. Height is easily adjustable.
Provenance: Prof. Rodolfo Palluchini, the General Secretary of the Venice Biennale (1948-1957), thence by decent.
