A Swedish Walnut and Mahogany Cabinet on Stand
Handsomely designed and beautifully detailed. The rectangular top with a leaf-tip molding, above two doors and side panels each inlaid with burled-walnut, the stand with two drawers on shaped legs joined by stretchers.
David Blomberg (1874-1962) was a Swedish interior designer and cabinetmaker who founded the celebrated furniture department at Nordiska Kompaniet (NK). Blomberg directed the department between 1902 -1917 and designed the emblematic NK logo still used today. In 1917, he was commissioner for and participated in the influential Hemutst‰llningen exhibition in Liljevalchs with leading Swedish designers Carl Bergsten, Carl Malmsten, Gunnar Asplund, Uno Öhren and Wilhelm K•ge. In 1925, Blombergs workshop executed beautifully crafted furniture designed by Carl Hˆrvik and Gunnar Asplund for the seminal 1925 Exposition International des arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris.
