Wonderful mid-century abstract figurative by New York City artist David Chapin (American, b. 1919) signed and dated lower right (Chapin 8/64). Condition: Excellent. Image size: 38"H x 28"W. Presented in painted slat rustic frame. Framed size:: 39"H x 30"W x 1". EDUCATION Cornell School of Architecture, 1938 to 1941. United States Navy, 1942 to 1946. Studied with Hans Hoffman, 1947 to 1948. Taught Painting and Design at Illinois Wesleyan University, 1949 to 1952. Two summers in Mexico, 1949-1951. To Europe, 1952, took up residence near Rome. Lived there until 1955. Travelled extensively throughout the Mediterranean area visiting Sicily, Spain, Portugal, North Africa, Greece, Crete, Istanbul, and Egypt. To England 1955, established residence near Cambridge. Frequent trips to France, Germany, Austria, Scandinavian countries.
