Angelo Testa's "Campagna" Print
Angelo Testa’s “Campagna” design, circa 1947. This framed artwork consists of 16 paper placemats produced in 1951 under license from Knoll and Testa. The 16 placemats have been professionally mounted using an archival process, so as not to damage the paper, and framed in a brushed black anodized aluminum frame with plexiglass. This can be hung either horizontally or vertically. Works of Testa’s on paper are extremely difficult to find, and these in particular are pretty rare, as most of them were actually used. These, however, were not. They are “dead stock”. Each piece bears Testa’s signature in the lower right-hand corner. Per the Cooper Hewitt website: “Campagna, likely named after the designer Angelo Testa’s friend, Paul Campagna, epitomizes Testa’s design vocabulary. Designed in 1947 for Knoll Associates, Campagna utilizes Testa’s preferred linear and geometric forms, commonly associated with his Bauhaus training. The hard edges of the concentric rectangles in this textile, however, have been softened by their appearance of being almost hand-drawn.” We offer free delivery on most of our items within the long Island or greater NYC, Northern New Jersey, and New England areas.
