The current issue of Garden & Gun features a project designed by Historical Concepts. Inspired by history and a bit of imagination, THE LANTERN is reminiscent of a coastal beacon that would have signaled to sea-faring vessels. The new structure was designed to complement the character of the South Carolina estate upon which it sits and its 1828 residence, Dean Hall. Paying homage to the past, THE LANTERN is a unique space for hosting intimate cocktail parties, soaking up the historic setting and enjoying the ever-changing vistas of the tidal marshes.
Presented by the Florida Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, the Addison Mizner Medal honors individuals and design firms whose work advances the ideals of classicism and traditional design in architecture, urban design and the allied arts. Historical Concepts was recognized in the Renovation category. Working within the context of the historic Jupiter Island Club, Historical Concepts’ design team, led by Partner Terry Pylant, updated a decades old Jupiter Island home into a whimsical, yet sophisticated, getaway with the vintage glamour of a 1920s Florida estate.
"The roots of Greek Revival architecture run deep in the South for good reason - the style offers refined formality without stuffiness." -- Elegant Homes magazine
