French neoclassical gilded and silvered bronze caryatid supporting a crystal coupe by Baccarat (Napoleon III period, circa 1870). The bronze support for the coupe is encircled by salamanders, the symbol of life and rebirth, which was also adopted by Francois Premier as his emblem.
