The world met the Bellini Chair (1998) when Heller placed six chairs in an all-white, 51-foot-long booth at the annual furniture fair in Milan. Many asked, Is that chair by Mario Bellini? as soon as they saw the sleek, sculptural lines. Others questioned if there was a metal frame hidden inside (there isnt). DWR founder Rob Forbes saw it and fell in love. The DWR catalog was already at the printer but he stopped the presses to add the Bellini Chair to the cover. Today, Bellini Chairs are so popular that Heller is producing them seven days a week just to meet the demand. Crafted of injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene, the Bellini Chair is a sturdy, stackable and lightweight chair that is as timeless and beautiful as it is versatile. Exceptionally comfortable with a slightly flexible back, its tough enough to withstand use in a busy restaurant while elegant enough to flatter a sophisticated studio or home. Bellini resides in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and in public spaces at MoMA, where durability counts as much as good design. This chair earned the celebrated Italian architect and designer his eighth Compasso dOro award in 2001. Stackable up to six high; suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Made in U.S.A.
