DAVID IATESTA Studio
The Brindelle Lantern started it’s life in our studio as a large cylinder of antique glass capped on both ends with bronze fittings. It is thought to have been part of an electrical cooling system from the Twenties. We mimicked the glass with scientific glass the only source of which is in Germany. The hard-edged industrial feel of the glass has been softened with nine hand-forged twigs growing from the center rod. At the end of each twig is a beeswax candle. All the electrical wires have been completely concealed giving the new electrical parts a very organic feel. The entire piece is hand silver leafed and seems to shimmer from the inside out.
