Cocobolo Wood Hand Carved Abstract Table Sculpture Signed Dated 1968

Sorry, this product is no longer available on Dering Hall.

Rare and monumental solid Cocobolo wood hand carved table top sculpture by Maddyn Goldenberg, dated 1968. Cocobolo wood is a rare, expensive and heavy tropical hardwood from central America known for its expressive grains and attractive colors. This particular sculpture is abstract in design and has a very organic modern feel. It is signed on the bottom “Serendipity” Maddyn Goldenberg, 1968. I had this sculpture identified by a professional woodworking company here in Miami that does high end custom wood furniture. They stated that the artist must have been very strong and diligent to carve such a beautiful sculpture from such a heavy and dense piece of wood and noted that it would be very difficult in todays world to acquire a piece of Cocobolo in this size, since in the current market it is only available in slabs.
