White on White

The art of white on white moldings and decorative elements has become a recent obsession for me...

We shot an amazing fashion editorial at the Codor Design showroom, which renewed my fascination with their amazing mirrors and prompted some searching for similar items…

This is one of those things where I think ‘I could do that’ in my head, and then it turns out to be a disaster. But I could see how if you found a piece that was already put together, spraying it out in white would make it much more approachable, and give it a modern twist.

And speaking of mod…Carved out walls? Yes please. This goes way beyond moldings.

I happen to have one huge white wall in my loft (all the rest are brick) and I wonder if doing something like this could add an interesting element to the space. An easy way to achieve some of this white on white detail? Lattice.

Don’t hate me for loving this so so much. I think it comes from my obsession with garden rooms. I think it’s amazing. A few other easy DIY ideas for getting some white on white texture…

1 // Pegboard can get kitchy, but used in this simple manner, I actually like it.

2 // If you have stone or brick in your home, consider a layer of paint to totally change the vibe! I love the white brick wall we have in our office. It’s such great texture.

3 // My friends and I have an ongoing joke about ‘white art’. But hey, it’s the easiest DIY you’ll ever do. Gold frame, white paint on a canvas, and you’re done.

4 // Start treasure hunting or visit some import stores in your area and chances are you’ll find an affordable carving that you can spray out in white.
