The intersection of design and food is undeniable with decor and ambiance playing almost as important a role in the dining experience as the food. With many interior designers bringing their skills to restaurants large and small, we thought we'd turn the tables and ask ten top talents to share their favorite spots to dine.

David Dalton, of David Dalton Inc. in Los Angeles, CA: 

“Designed by Joseph Dirand, Monsieur Bleu in Paris is sublime. Every choice of material, every detail and the scale of everything is perfection. But it’s impossible to just talk about one restaurant. Sketch in London, which was designed by India Mahdavi, has been an institution since the day it opened for a good reason. It is flawless in its brave use of color, sexy lighting and civilized restraint of detailing. Song Qi in Monte Carlo designed by Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet is off the charts with its abundance of gleaming brass, graphic marble floors and chic green upholstery. They got every detail just right.”

Denise McGaha, of Denise McGaha Interiors in Dallas, TX: 

FT33 in Dallas is a farm-to-table restaurant with modern flair, and the Chef's Tasting Menu is my favorite recommendation.”

Young Huh, of Young Huh Interiors in New York City:

“My 'go-to' restaurant of the moment is The Americano in Chelsea’s Hotel Americano. Chic, simple, amazing food and close to my home.”

Restaurant RED in Amsterdam is one-of-a-kind. We live in a land of a million restaurants, and we love exploring new ones on our travels too. Discovering small places that have a specialty are so key.”

Cathy Austin, of Catherine M. Austin Design in Charlotte, North Carolina: 

Nobu Malibu has the perfect combination of excellent food, stunning setting, and salty air.”

Laura Stein, of Laura Stein Interiors in Toronto, Canada:

“I’m in love with A Tavola in Sydney, Australia. It's been said by the critics that their pasta is better than in Italy. Closer to home, my go-to restaurant is Ortolan in Toronto. Small, cozy, fresh local ingredients and chefs who care about what they serve.”

Amelia Carter, of Amelia Carter LTD in London:

“The menu at Lucio, an italian restaurant on London's Fulham Road, is always changing and never disappointing. I also love that they allow dogs into a fairly elegant setting. Although I would never dare to take my two naughty Parsons Jack Russells!
