1. Be Consistent
Whether you commit to posting on Instagram once a day or once a week, be sure to be consistant with how frequently you post. Your followers will become accustomed to how often they hear from you.
2. Link to your other social accounts
Share your Instagram posts to your other social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Link these networks to your Instagram account and get more reach on your photos with simplified sharing through these accounts.
Hashtags are an ideal way to appear in search traffic on Instagram. Use hashtags that are appliciable to your post and your business to bring new people in.
I'm off to Louisville for the @monogramappliances Designer Summit. The theme of the summit is Empathy. What a wonderful word to use in kitchen design. Empathy is important during the design process. Feeling care, compassion and hospitality when you enter someone's kitchen is truly a wonderful feeling indeed. So take a cup of tea, a slice of cake and follow along on this 3 day adventure! #interior #interiordesign #kitchen #monogramdesignersummit #creatingempathy #design #empathy #kitchenofthemonth @housebeautiful 📷 John M Hall
4. Tag your sources
Be sure to credit brands and collaborators in your posts. They will appreciate the callout and hopefully even regram your image.
Georgetown Solarium by @jefflincolnnewyork and @hillarythomas as seen in @christianelemieux book The Finer Things. Previously seen in @housebeautiful with photography by @ericpiaseecki. A fun collaborative project with a childhood friend and talented fellow designer. Client got the best from both of us. @sophiedow @tnt3 #interiordesign #interiorinspiration #instagood #instadecor #traditional #design
5. Use Geotagging
If you're at an event, a store, or a showroom, use a geotag to tell your followers where you are. It will aggregate your image with others that have been shared at the same location, making your content easier to find for people who would be interested in it.
6. Plan your posts
Instagram doesn't need to be instantaneous. Put a plan together with photos and captions to help lay out what you're going to post in upcoming weeks or months.
7. Instagram Stories
Skip Snapchat and show your followers a bit of your personality by using Instagram Stories. Not sure how Instagram Stories work? Here is some useful info.
8. Use Notifications
Turn on post notifications to receive alerts when someone in your network adds a post. You can use this for your business to engage with specific accounts that have a high number of followers.
9. Be Social
Don't forget to engage with people who comment on your photos and to share kind words on photos you like. This is a "social" network after all!
