An Inside Look at Five Designer Rooms in the Lake Forest Showhouse

Held in the home of the late screenwriter, director and producer John W. Hughes, Jr., this year's Lake Forest Showhouse called on the area's top design talent to turn the seven bedroom home into a design spectacle. Open from April 25 to May 17, we have a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the showhouse rooms of Wells Street Design, Sweet Peas Design, Kim Scodro Interiors, Michael Del Piero Good Design and Randy Heller Inc. / Pure & Simple Interior Design, and reveal the sketches and mood board of each room and the inspiration behind the design.

Garden Room, Designed by Michael Del Piero Good Design

Designer Michael Del Piero Good Design adds life to the Garden Room and brings the outside in with the combination of unexpected pieces, like the pairing of unique art with ancient pottery. While the room is not a large one, Del Piero makes it a welcoming one.

Master Bedroom, Designed by Kim Scodro Interiors

Kim Scodro Interiors designed the Master Bedroom around the gentle palette of creams and grays. Her use of texture and gold accents adds depth while the hints of raspberry and colorful art act as a gentle reminder to not to take life too seriously. The room features several items from Ebanista's Collection Ten, including the Beau Ruban Bed, Vercelli Console, and Theodore Ottoman as well as custom drapery from the brand.

Lady's Retreat, Designed by Sweet Peas Design

The Lady's Retreat room was designed by Sweet Peas Design for a particularly fashionable woman with impeccable taste and strong opinions in mind. Designer Susan Brunstrum created a relaxed and elegant mood that is chic but not too fussy, creating the design equivalent of a little black dress. This room is in keeping with Sweet Pea Design's trademark style of livable luxury.

Upper Foyer, Designed by Wells Street Design

For the Upper Foyer, which includes a stairway and sitting and hallway areas, Leslie Bowman of Wells Street Design used a neutral palette that mixes textures and various shades of white with a blend of classic and modern furniture pieces. Bowman's ultimate goal was to create a cozy, welcoming space that you'd want to curl up in and read a book.

Approaching each of her designs with the intent of forming an emotional response, Randy Heller Inc. / Pure & Simple Interior Design created a carefully curated Master Bathroom for the showhouse that is a place of pure relaxation.
