Artisan Brands to Know: 40 Finds, Part 2

Continuing our year-long 40 Finds campaign, we’re presenting 10 of our favorite artisan brands creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that interior designers and architects simply need to see. An architect by training and furniture designer by practice, Jason Mizrahi designs sculptural furniture for luxury residences and impact pieces for commercial projects. His passion for clean and contemporary pieces is born out of a meticulous design process that is reflected in every curve and line of his furniture designs.

Sharon Holmin Interiors is an LA-based firm that offers a line of artisanal design products, including vibrant, exciting contemporary wallpapers. These unique wallcoverings offer a wealth of choices, including grasscloths, corks, barks, and even glass-based wallcoverings, as well as gorgeous metallics, large-format murals, and abstract paper designs.

Founded 15 years ago, London-based Jimmie Martin focuses on handpainted furniture, transforming pieces into one-of-a-kind works of art. The majority of their pieces are individual commissions, with the client selecting the frames, fabrics, and finishes. Their interior design services also enable them to source a wide array of pieces and finishes.

Eidos Glass creates contemporary glass lighting and home decor products, all meticulously handmade using traditional Venetian techniques. Lorin Silverman designs and produces all of Eidos’ pieces in the Urban Glass studio in Brooklyn. In addition to their core products, which are all customizable, Eidos works closely with architects and designers on custom pieces as well.

An award-winning San Francisco-based firm, Fyrn is named for an Old English word meaning “ancient; of old.” With a century-old family background in furniture design and manufacturing,  their ethos is to create pieces that will last a lifetime, with enduring products that move away from disposable culture and embrace an appreciation for materials and craft.

Top design firms turn to Newell Design Studio for one-of-a-kind, extraordinary pieces of furniture. Clients have ranged from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Group to homeowners in Aspen, Pebble Beach, and Palm Springs. All designs and finishes are customizable, with pieces created precisely to specification in any size.

A family-run Ohio-based business, Bertu produces furnishings and home accessories with a special focus on locally sourced black walnut as a prime material. They and their team of local craftsmen produce approachable, quality furniture and accessories with full customization options for any design.

As designers working in contemporary India, the team at Demuro Das takes their cues from a range of aesthetic influences to create modernist pieces that still remain true to India’s rich tradition of ornament. Their furnishings run the gamut from sleek sofas to side tables, consoles, and high-design benches and armchairs.

Founded in Sausalito in 1962, Robert Long Lighting became known for its bench-made lighting in the style of Post-War California design. Years later, Robert’s son (also Robert) has brought the company back to prominence, working with many of the vendors and craftsmen his father selected to honor the brand’s legacy and carry out his artistic vision.

Von Morris creates unique artisan hardware that reflects history, interprets modern design and always strives to satisfy the client’s personal preferences and needs. Their designs deliver a sense of aesthetic appeal as well as mechanical elegance. They also have custom hardware design and finish capabilities, enabling them to truly personalize their hardware for any space.
