Four Designers Share Their Fall Wishlists

Autumn brings a seasonal refresh for our interiors — meaning it's time to get shopping. We asked designers to share with us the furniture and objects on Dering Hall that are inspiring them this season, and they offered up a range of products, from lush blue wallcoverings and chic tray tables to faux bamboo chests, refreshing chandeliers, and more. Read on for their favorite new pieces.

Designed by J. Stephens Interiors, photographer Peter Rymwid

Director of Design at J. Stephens Interiors, Jo Ann Stephens Alston chose products that complement her elegant, comfortable aesthetic. The Spatter Paper wallpaper from Sharon Holmin Interiors is dramatic in a pale blue color, while the Scallop Light from Collier Webb — available in multiple finishes — is adjustable, making it both practical and beautiful. Of the Mercer Tray Table from Eva Quatemen Essentials, Alston notes that high-end tray tables can work in any room. "I love tray tables," she says, "and they're hard to find."

Matt Niemann

Debbie Baxter of Baxter Design Group, Inc. chose cleanly designed objects and furnishings with innovative details. A chandelier for Remains Lighting from Robert A.M. Stern Architects resembles fragments of glass, pieced together into a new shape. Baxter envisioned the cerused faux bamboo chests by Ray Sabota for Century Furniture Company as nightstands, flanking a fully upholstered, boxy modern bed — malachite lamps, textured grass cloth wallcoverings, and a vintage rug would finish the look. With the sleek Chatwin Bar & Counter Chairs from Richard Wrightman Design, she would round out an all-white kitchen in a Spanish colonial-style home, pairing them with white glass cabinets, a Calacatta marble island, and reclaimed wood beams.

Casey Dunn

With his fall picks, Marcus Mohon of Marcus Mohon Interiors chose products that heighten elegance and add a touch of mystique to the spaces they inhabit. He imagines the Thompson Side Chair from Century Furniture as the perfect place for drinking a cocktail, and in the contemporary Buffalo Jump Table by Powell & Bonnell, he sees a contemporary drink table that merges easily with its environs. Of the Borgia Metal Chandelier from Villaverde London, he says, "I love it because it is incredibly elegant with a dash of magic thrown in."

Based in Philadelphia, Ashli Mizell browsed for designs that are as fresh and sophisticated as her style. Mizell selected the Vintage Moroccan Boujad Rug from Antevasins Imports for its playful pattern and colors and the Art Deco French Armchairs from Adesso Eclectic Imports for their timelessness. In the unexpected Mobile-Shaped Mid-Century Chandelier by Stilnovo from Studio Van Den Akker, she saw the perfect blend of classic and unique inspirations. "I would absolutely love to see the three of them all together," she says.
