Frank Ponterio Highlights the Ingenuity and Artistry of Hand-craftsmanship v2

"An appreciation for artistry, craftsmanship and authenticity has greatly influenced my career and my process, whether I am designing a space or a piece of furniture. I find the skill, finesse and ingenuity of handcraftsmanship in the U.S. to be unrivaled. That is why I sought out master American craftsman to fabricate my furniture lines, and why I’ve curated a collection of furnishings from Dering Hall that share those values." -Frank Ponterio

Lyre Chair, Rose Tarlow Melrose House - "The classic silhouette of the Lyre Chair lends it to be a complementary addition to any space. Its elegant skirted bottom and contoured arms add an air of gracefulness that can be dressed up or down depending on the covering."

Sharpleaf Chandelier, Rose Tarlow Melrose House - "With 12 arms stemming from its center, I feel that the Sharpleaf Chandelier makes a statement without overwhelming a room. Between the leaf design and rusty iron finish, the overall feeling is rustic yet refined."

Agador Sofa, Frank Ponterio Interior Design - "French-inspired but American-made, the Agador sofa has a sophisticated, balanced presence. It boasts a large-scale dimension with a distinctive open center, tufted cushioning and bronze claw feet that lend unexpected character to a classic, custom design."

Regency Dining Table, Rose Tarlow Melrose House - "This 72-inch table appears frequently in my designs, as it is handcrafted to perfection warm mahogany wood. The sunburst top adds just the right amount of interest to allow the classic shape to maintain its versatility."

Grand St. Andrews Canopy, Bradshaw Kirchofer Handmade Furniture - "Each piece in the Bradshaw Kirchofer collection is inspired by English antiques but is handmade in the husband-and-wife duo’s Los Angeles workshop. This canopy bed captures Old World charm of a bygone era but has the ability to transcend design trends. It can fit in a master or a young girl’s bedroom based on finish and how the bedding is styled."

Niobe Banquette, Marcali Designs Inc - "The husband-and-wife team behind Marcali Designs Inc create traditional designs meant to be passed down from generation to generation. I love the hand-carved wood back, tufting and nail head detail and find that this rounded bench would fit as easily in a cozy breakfast nook as in a formal interior."

Emerson Side Chair, Marcali Designs Inc. - "Through the extensive finishing options, the transformative quality of this chair is front and center. Whether it’s upholstered or all wood, the classic shape keeps it rooted in tradition while the flared back leg, which drew me to the piece initially, offers a subtle flourish."

Chic & Unique New Hand, Old Plank - "The chair and ottoman set is both comfortable and undeniably masculine. The hand-colored and hand-woven leather fully celebrates Old Plank Road’s expert craftsmanship and presents an equally chic and functional piece."

Custom Steel and Brass Fireplace Screen Mesh, Old Plank - "This Chicago-made fire screen employs sturdy materials like steel and brass with an intricate twist. Though it appears to have a simple design along the front of the screen, brass details abound under closer inspection."

Pair of Solid Bronze and Vitreous Enamel Sink Bases or Buffets, Old Plank - "Customized and created entirely from scratch, this pair of buffets, or sink basins, represents the vision and manufacturing skills of Old Plank. The brass accents stand out against the simple lines of the black enamel exterior and recall Art Deco style or statement jewelry of that period."

Draper Café Side Chair, Kindel Furniture - "Kindel’s Dorothy Draper Collection has allowed them to recreate American classics popularized in previous decades. Adapted from the 20th century designer’s chairs for The Greenbriar Hotel in West Virginia, the Cafe Side Chair evokes Old Hollywood glamour."

Westbury Dressing Chest, Kindel Furniture - "Dorothy Draper’s influence comes through again with this chest. The half-round moulding outlines at the base display her signature touch of femininity. Still, the chest, which was originally designed in 1939, feels masculine thanks to the rich, bark-colored finish."
