Inside a Worldly Russian Hill Home

For a well-traveled couple living on Russian Hill in San Francisco, Tres McKinney of Tres McKinney Design performed an extensive remodel that seamlessly incorporates the colors and styles of the clients’ art collection, and effortlessly demonstrates their multifaceted personalities.

Donna Best of D. Best Light Specification upgraded the lighting throughout the home to show off the artworks and posters, which often vary in era and country of origin. Using her sophisticated understanding of color, McKinney referenced the paintings and decorative objects in the color scheme of the main floor. She replaced many of the furnishings and reupholstering or finishing others throughout the home, mixing the clients’ personal items with unique and new pieces. With the upscale space, the designer achieves a restrained, colorful aesthetic that’s both intimate and worldly, yet still anchored in the chic northern Californian style of its surroundings.
