Inside Interior Designer Ken Gemes' Bronxville Home Full of Historical Charm

When searching for a family home, interior designer Ken Gemes and his wife, Boo, were drawn to this 1920s Bronxville, New York house because of its easy flow and historical charm. To maximize the home’s open feel, Gemes used pale tints of color in shades of taupe, smoky blues and grey-greens and sisal carpets to help unify the spaces and keep them light. All of the rooms on the first floor were designed to work as family spaces with furniture that is both functional and comfy. More than 20 years later, the home is still perfect for Gemes and his family, requiring only a kitchen renovation and some small tweaks along the way.
