Shopping with Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe of LA's Nickey Kehoe

After founding their interior design studio, Nickey Kehoe, Inc., in 2004, Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe briskly expanded their scope, creating their own design mini-empire in Los Angeles. In addition to crafting casually sophisticated interiors for homes throughout Southern California, in fall 2008 they opened an eponymous shop on Beverly Boulevard and launched a furniture line, both enterprises spotlighting their fresh, quirky, modern-meets-traditional style. This fall, they added their latest products to Dering Hall, including a farm table, dutch bed and coffee table. Whether designing a client’s house, curating their shop, or culling their picks from Dering Hall, as they’ve done here, “we try to create a casually elegant, informal but tasteful environment,” says Nickey. “We think of ourselves as the editors, not the writers, of a project.” Reviewing the products they’ve selected from other designers’ storefronts, Nickey reflects: “It would be interesting to do a house or room with all these pieces we pulled—it would totally work. There’s a very complementary balance between formal and playful, colorful but subtle.” Adds Kehoe: “They play together well, and work in an unexpected but fluid way. All these elements feel like us.”
