When given the opportunity to design a home for basketball star Tyson Chandler and his wife Kimberly, award-winning interior designer Jeff Andrews was not looking for simplicity. Using a neutral palette, Andrews carefully added layers of texture, subtle patterns, metallics and mirrors to bring a lively mood into this elegant home in California's exclusive Hidden Hills neighborhood.
The two-story entryway is full of natural light and looks out to a fireplace in the courtyard beyond. Set between the living and dining rooms, Andrews adds drama to the space with a vintage Lucite chandelier, custom mirrored table and wallpaper from Lee Jofa.
The two-story formal living room features vaulted ceilings and a fireplace and is perfect for entertaining and family holidays. Custom sofas and a cocktail table by designed by Andrews are flanked by Oly Studio consoles topped with horsehead lamps from Fuller + Roberts. A champagne crystal chandelier from Melrose Gallery and handwoven rug from Mansour Modern prove to be a stunning match in the space.
The family room features plush custom furniture designed by Andrews. The unique sofas are accented with throw pillows covered in Donghia fabrics. The oak farm table was made in 1910 and showcases a collection of vintage pottery and a bronze sculpture. The mirror is from Mecox.
The large kitchen is open to the family room and has views of the backyard. The stools are from Bassman Blaine and the chandeliers are via Eloquence.
In the dining room, Andrews creates a monochromatic bronze palette with patterned Avignon wallpaper from Brunschwig & Fils and drapes and chair fabric from Holly Hunt. The chandelier from Jean de Merry casts a warm glow over elegant dinner parties where everything from family to fashion to sports is discussed.
Tyson Chandler’s office, which is off of the entryway, features basketball memorabilia, a desk from Lee Stanton Antiques and vintage chairs from Blackman Cruz finished in a fabric by Kravet.
In the hallway en route to the master suite, Andrews balances the new finishes of the home with a textured grass cloth wallcovering and a grouping of vintage art, lighting and furniture pieces.
Layers of pattern and texture in the master bedroom are highlighted by the Dedar Ikat drape fabric and custom headboard in cashmere velvet from Donghia.
The bedroom features a mirrored desk, nightstands, mirrors and coffee table custom designed by Andrews and grasscloth wallpaper by Romo.
Glamour abounds in the master bathroom, which features an antique chaise finished in a Schumacher fabric and Cowtan and Tout wallpaper.
