Committed Craftsmen. Modern Living Supplies’ Audette Single Door Console is a clean lined, stylish and functional case piece made to order locally in New York City. The company’s pieces are made by craftsmen from America and Europe who are all united by a common trait: they are committed to making high quality furnishings in the craftsman spirit.

Local Materials. The console features handsome American walnut wood sourced in Pennsylvania. Modern Living Supplies works with a local hardwood supplier who specializes in finely crafted furniture. After construction, the company’s in-house finisher applies a satin lacquer to the wood to increase its durability. Satin is chosen over a shinier finish and is more consistent with the modern spirit of the piece.

Holistic Design. Behind its front sliding front door, the Audette console reveals tray-style solid walnut drawers with curved cutouts. The designers at Modern Living Supplies were very purposeful with the handles – the smooth shape adds an organic rhythm and compliments the natural walnut construction. The shape is also reminiscent of other mid-century furniture, keeping with the modern spirit of the dresser. Lastly, the cut out is born out of function, as knobs or pulls would not accommodate the sliding door.

Smooth Glide and Unexpected Detail. One hallmark of the design is its asymmetrical configuration of left and right sides, providing both drawers and adjustable shelves behind the sliding panel door. The glide on the sliding door is a manufactured mechanism that can be effortlessly used with a single finger. There are no tracks on the bottom of the glide, which maintains the clean look of the piece. With the sliding door, the fronts of the drawers are intended to be exposed, adding an unexpected touch to the overall design.

High-quality Construction. Audette’s pull out drawers are fabricated with high quality, handmade dovetail joinery, a connection chosen for its durability. No detail is too small for Modern Living Supplies. Wooden drawer runners are used instead of mechanical ones in order to maintain the dresser’s craftsman essence.

Mid-Century Updated for Modern Day. While suitable for many rooms in the home, the designers at Modern Living Supplies have added cut outs in the back of the console to accommodate wires and allow circulation, a much needed but often overlooked detail, in many media cabinets. From door glide to wooden joint, every aspect of the Audette console showcases a commitment to the art of craftsmanship and attention to detail that defines Modern Living Supplies and the furniture it creates.
