The Greek Key is an ancient graphic that can be seen throughout various architectural elements. However, the meandering pattern isn't stuck in ancient times.
The Greek Key is rare in that it has stood the test of time. It has transcended millennial & continues to be the "go to" graphic, when it comes to interior design. When you look closely, the Greek Key can be seen in a variety of elements. From drapery trims, tile flooring, or even in its more traditional use, the frieze in mouldings, the Greek Key is everywhere.
Although one may think, the traditionally classical design would be more suited for the vernacular of its origins, the Greek Key proves to be the contrary. It works in the most traditional and the most modern of settings. Its clean lines and its ability to be modified, helps the graphic adapt to any style of decor.
Here are just a few of my favorite looks using the Greek Key in various ways. And no matter the genre of design, the Greek Key is one element that does not get lost in translation!
