A Piece of France

The formulas for making the fine Bordeaux bottled by this French winemaking family are complex. Yet, every time a cork is popped and a glass poured, the result is something perfectly in balance. Serge Castella and Jason Flinn, noted Spanish-based designers and antiques dealers, sought to achieve the same kind of balance when they conceived the interior design scheme for a home on the grounds of a winery estate in the south of France.

“It was neat to bring in so many elements to the rooms, from an ornate painted eighteenth-century Venetian panel to towering Noguchi paper lamps and Saarinen tables and chairs, and have it all work in such a harmonious way,” says Castella.
