A Film about the Rarity of Time and the Memories We Maintain- "Boyhood"

"Boyhood" is one of those unique films that doesn't come along frequently. It's a film that took over 12 years to make and tried the commitment and patience of all those involved. In totality, 4,207 days were spent in production! This semi-autobiographical, narrative by renounced filmmaker, Richard Linklater, captures random events occurring to Mason starting at age 6 and continuing for the next 12 years. Growing up in Texas, Mason has the usual adolescence problems- parents, girlfriends, school... but its the effect of following him year by year that makes this film fascinating. No one knew what the future held which made the "essence of time," the true central character of the film.
