Chair morphs into stool and into work-of-art

Designer Ian Stell likes to stretch the lines between fine art and design... he stands somewhere in the middle. Stell has come a long way from when he was a student of sculpture and painting at The Art Institute of Chicago. We are thrilled he chose the path he's on!

We love his Femten chair... aptly named because in Dutch, femten means "15", which is the number of parts that fold around the circular part of the seat. Using his creativity and desire to create functional furniture, Stell assembled the parts so that they can move in both directions... thus, the chair not only becomes a stool, but it also changes color and texture. If that isn't impressive enough, the chair/stool can be flattened completely, and this can become a work of art you can mount on your wall. We think this is pretty inventive and certainly fun!
