Viewer Involvement is What Crowdsourcing is All About!

Artists are taking advantage of our "plugged in" and media frenzied society to help complete large-scale projects on display in public plazas and museums throughout the world. If art is about creating emotional reactions, crowdsourcing will accomplish all that and more! The free man-hours necessary to complete some of these enormous installations, in addition to turning the often passive audience into an active one, are just some of the pros. Earlier this year in Vancouver, a 745 ft. net was stretched over a plaza separating the convention center from the glass skyscrapers nearby. The result was a colorful biomorphic form which was manipulated by the viewers' cell phones. Beautiful to begin with, this creation was made all the more special after being altered hundreds of times by hundreds of different people!
