Dale Chihuly Hand Blown Glass "Black Tie" Chandelier
Dale Chihuly has many apprentices worldwide. This chandelier was built by one such apprentice and custom fabrication of every detail was to Chihuly standards of quality. The glass structure is 9-10’ long. Made of white ribbed glass hand blown “bulbs” with a black tip at the bottom. Named “Black Tie” by the designer that commissioned the piece. This chandelier hung in a private residence for ten years before the residence was sold and it was reserved to be kept by the owner. The owner intended to reinstall in a new construction but it was never installed before the owners death. The estate assigned the designer to place the work now. The fixture is illuminated by long lasting LED lamps that extend into the majority of the bulbs. The fixture has a white canopy that is matte acrylic and may be painted to match the ceiling of the installation. The fixture is shipped with the “bulbs” separate and packed into crates. The lighting umbilicus is shipped separately. It must be hung from the canopy and illuminated and the “bulbs” are installed by the white fiber coated wires attached to each one and an LED light source is tucked into each “bulb” by the installer. The designer is available to supervise the installation if the purchaser is not secure in how it is done. for a fee. Very easy to do by any installation person in the residential design business. The count of “bulbs” is an estimate.
