Ebony Avila Cabinet in Straw Marquetry
The craft of gluing patterns to furniture using flattened stems of cured rye straw is thought to
originate in Europe since the 17th century. Straw marquetry was first used in a contemporary way
by French designer Jean-Michel Frank in the 1930s. Standard patterns are straight, starburst
(sunburst) and facetted as well as custom patterns.
This exquisitely stylish and modern cabinet has Ebony Starburst Straw Marquetry on the doors, with a simple yet classic blackened steel metal base. Interiors are finished in dark American Walnut.
