Edwardian 19th c. sienna marble mantel with intricate carving
Olde Good Things
This important English carved dark sienna marble chimney piece was retrieved from the Vanderbilt residence on Sutton Place in Manhattan. The center plaque is carved out of a block, as opposed to being paneled and layered which is unusual for an English mantel. Details include rams head capitals atop each side jam, winged figural center motif as well as maiden figures in the center. Acanthus leave edging with Intricate scrollwork throughout. This is one of many acquisitions from Danny Alessandro & Edwin Jackson mantel company.
