French Louis XV commode, circa 1725-1730, kingwood veneered, stamped by M嬢itre Nicolas-Jean Marchand (born in 1697) who had his workshop in Paris rue saint-Nicolas and was specialized in museum quality furniture, in fact several of his pieces can be admired in the Parisian library – Rue de Sully – and in the “Carnavalet” Museum. This chest still with a “Regence” feel is in extraordinary original condition coming from the “Chateau de Lauroy” in Clemont (Le Cher) near the historical city of Bourges where it has always belonged to the same family.
