Newel

Sorry, this product is no longer available on Dering Hall.

French midcentury tulip wood coffee table with four legs connected by a stretcher having gilt bronze sabot feet with four gilt bronze balls supporting a gold floral engraved round glass top (Etienne-Henri Martin). Etienne-Henri Martin was a French designer and decorator whose work combined elements of classic and avante-garde French design. He was artistic director of the Studium Louvre, the creative workshop of the Grands Magasins du Louvre, from 1938 to 1945. The workshop produced designs for the growing number of customers who wanted modern styles of decoration. Martin’s work had elements of traditional decorative art and elements of avant-garde, though towards the end of his career he moved towards free forms.
