Gina Cochran "Perceptions No. 15" Encaustic Collage Painting
Perceptions is an ongoing encaustic collage series. This piece is 10×10×1.5 – it can be rotated and displayed a number of ways depending on how it’s grouped with other pieces. The last two photos show an example of a small grouping (try to envision them without the messy studio wall!) – This listing is for No. 15 only, the other two are listed separately. Encaustic, ink, paper, and oil on cradled wood panel. Each shape is hand cut from natural fiber papers and then suspended between layers of clear encaustic medium to create a thick translucent surface which draws the viewer into the piece. In areas where the wax application is thickest there is a subtle depth to the wax. I use a torch to manipulate and fuse the wax this gives my surfaces a beautifully textured finish. The edges are painted a soft gray. There is no hanging wire, these pieces are light weight and hang best (flush with the wall) using 2 small nails or push pins. Ready to display! Signed, titled and dated on the back.
