Hollywood Regency Palm Beach Tôle Peinte Ivy Candleabra or Wall Sconces, a Pair
A pair of heavy Tôle Peinte metal candle wall sconces in the Hollywood Regency style popularized by Dorthy Draper. From a Palm Beach Florida estate, circa 1930-1950. The pieces, made of hand-painted iron, are formed of green English Ivy, climbing a creamy-white painted trellis form support. Each sconce has two arms terminating in candle holders with a petal form drip pan, also painted in cream. The versos have a hanging loop integrated into the iron trellis, they also stand upright on a flat surface as candelabras. They look wonderful standing back to back as a table center. Hollywood Regency is a style of interior design signifying opulence, and named for the movie industry of southern California. The style is typified by the glamorous Hollywood Golden Era, from the 1920s through the 1950s. Made well with substantial weight. 12 in. W x 15.0 in. H, extending 7 in. from the wall. The expected patina and some spots of paint loss.
