Colonial Style Hurricane Shade mouth blown with the very important rolled lip of glass at the base characteristic of the 18th and 19th century shades so popular in the Caribbean and southern states.

Bronze Candlestick not included

From our private collection of antique hurricane shades we chose three tall shades varying in composition; a 20 inch, 22 inch and 24 inch (this one). Please see our 20 and 22 inch Hurricane Shade listings to view those styles.

These three antique shades were used as models to skillfully carve a cherry tree log to create a mold for use when blowing the molten glass as done in colonial days. Each shade is slightly different with attractive swirls of glass inherent in the glass blowing process. Important in this collection of shades is that pairs are now available. We custom match the pairs to most complement each other with minimal variation.

All are made in America according to methods from colonial glass blowers practices resulting in the beautiful appearance of the glass not found in shades made from metal molds.
