Ivy Umbrella Stand
After studying architecture and design in the U.S. and Sweden, Carl Gustav Magnusson worked with the Eameses for a short stint before opening his own studio and later joining Knoll in 1976, where he eventually became Director of Design. Upon receiving her masters in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano, Emanuela Frattini Magnusson also worked for the likes of Knoll, in addition to founding EFM Design and teaching at Parsons and Yale. Both continue to enjoy prolific careers, serving clients around the world. Their Ivy Umbrella Stand (1990) is designed for lasting durability and looks, with sparing yet strong aluminum construction and contrasting polished and textured finishes, making it an absolute charmer whether full or not. Despite its playful name, which is evocative of its shape, Ivy is all business when it comes to keeping stray umbrellas at bay. Made in China.
