Designed for a competition to furnish the student residence halls at the Cité Universitaire in Nancy, the Cité armchair is one of Jean Prouvé‘s early contemporary masterpieces. Prouvé himself used this dynamic looking armchair, with distinctive runners made of red powder-coated sheet steel and saddle coloured broad leather belts for armrests in the living room of his own home. Generous dimensions and continuous tan khaki fabric contribute to the great comfort of Cité. This 2002 edition was made in Germany – new these chairs retail for over $4,000 and take 10-11 weeks to make. 18"l x 11"h x 4"d down filled, striped lumbar pillow optional. The chairs sits low and back a bit like a beach lounger, but much more comfortable and cool looking!
