Following graduation with degrees in architecture from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Jrgen Rasmussen and twin brother Ib started their own studio in 1957. They quickly earned accolades for designs of single-family houses, and in 1958, they began working with Kevi A/S, beginning with a villa design for Bent Harlang, the companys manager and main shareholder. The project was so successful, they were asked to design chairs for the company. By the end of the 1960s, the Kevi Chair (1965) had become a widely popular multipurpose task chair for the home or office. This hardwearing chair is built on a single guiding principle: The better you sit, the more you get done. It sports an automatic height adjustment mechanism and smooth-rolling double-wheel casters the latter a Jrgen invention, for which he was awarded the prestigious ID Prize in 1969. Made in Denmark and Poland.
