Kinetic Standing Wood Stone Sculpture

Chairish

Sorry, this product is no longer available on Dering Hall.

Besos by Karolina Maszkiewicz. This standing kinetic sculpture is made of wood veneer, river stone and stainless steel. In tradition of Bauhaus shool each sculpture is made individually so there is some variations in size and color of the stone and veneer used, even though it’s part of a series no sculpture is exactly the same. There is a short 5 day lead time between order and shipping. Their intended purpose of this kinetic sculpture is to create a metaphysical connection between the viewer and the object, a conduit. The physical presence of the person changes the immediate future of this seemingly lifeless object. Alternatively, the sculpture can have a pacifying, meditative effect on the viewer. Not only can a person affect the object, but the changed dynamic of the object also determines the person’s future state of mind. Aside from the metaphysical aspect the paramount concepts behind my Divining Rods work are the ideas of the post-Suprematism movement and the traditions of the Bauhaus School. I focus on concentrated simplicity of form and color, where craftsmanship meets artistic merit. Suprematists emphasize the texture and moveable energy of a sculpture as essential qualities for its success. I wanted these emotional layers to feel immediately visually accessible.
