This is a painting by Robert Canete (American; b. 1948). The piece is titled: Sailing Off Big Sur, and made circa 2000. Oil painting on handmade paper Signed to the lower left An oil painting on paper titled Sailing Off Big Sur by artist Robert Canete (American; b. 1948), circa 2000. This painting depicts a tumultuous ocean rendered in wide brushstrokes with a pair of red sailboats on the horizon. The artist’s signature is present to the lower right corner of the painting. Robert Canete was born in 1948 and lives in Monterey and Carmel, California. His works feature depictions of local beaches rendered loose brushstrokes with saturated hues. Canete studied with Vincent Rascon in the 1960s and later with Dwight Miller at Stanford University. CONDITION: Excellent Condition. Minor age toning. DIMENSIONS: 16.25" W x 12.25" H x 0.001" D
