Lindsey Weicht “Cyanotype Series, Sitting Female No.2” Print
Part of my new series done using the cyanotype process on raw edged cotton/sateen fabric, framed in an antiqued gold 12 × 15 x1 frame with white mat (11 × 14 opening / 9 × 12 white mat). This frame comes with glass panel (removed to reduce glare in photos). A little about the process.. In the 1840’s the cyanotype process was one of the first non-silver technologies used to create photographic images. Originally made for photographers but adopted as a copying technique, distinctive for producing rich Prussian blue monochromatic (becoming known by the term “blueprint”). The two-part sensitizing process uses two types of solutions (in water), variations of the original formula involve different ratios of different chemicals with objects printed by ultraviolet light (also known as sun printing).
