Maharam DWR Pillow in Design 9297
Design 9297 (1913) is the work of Josef Hoffmann, a founding member of Wiener Werksttte. This group of visual artists believed in the value of exquisite craftsmanship and followed the motto: “Better to work 10 days on one product than to manufacture 10 products in one day.” To put Design 9297 into production, and to do so authentically, Maharam drew upon early 20th century colors and other examples of Hoffman’s work. Aside from a change in fabric construction that improves the appearance of the graphic design (the original trial sample from 1913 was created with a tapestry construction, the re-edition is rendered in a satin weave), Design 9297 retains its accurate form, including its original name, which was assigned to it in the mill archive. This fabric offers reduced environmental impact and is Greenguard Children and Schoolssm certified for low chemical and particle emissions and may contribute to LEED certification. This fully licensed fabric is produced by Maharam Design Studio according to the designer’s specifications.
