Original "Let's Make Love" Limited Edition Woodcut Print by Carol Summers
This is an early limited edition woodcut lithograph of Carol Summers, a highly respected and well-listed American artist who pioneered techniques of his own in woodcut printing. This particular piece is titled “Let’s Make Love” and the title is written in pencil by the artist along with his signature. It is number 12/50 so a small group of this print was ever available. Summers was born in 1925 and died in 2016. This woodcut is from the mid 1960’s adding to its value. It is framed in a nice slim brass frame, which does show signs of wear. I believe it could be polished up and perhaps replated if a shiny brass finish is desired, but it is perfectly fine as it is. Summers was known for his use of bold colors and these are especially lovely, in shades of pink, plum and mauve, with dark accents of black and/or dark blue. The heart in the design makes this a unique piece to give to a loved one.
